Foundation in Prague
Twelve German-speaking artists found the first Schlaraffia in Prague. The motto In arte voluptas is established from the very beginning.
Expansion into the German-speaking world
New Reyche are founded in Vienna, Berlin and other major cities. The idea spreads rapidly among the educated bourgeoisie.
International expansion
German emigrants carry the Schlaraffia idea to America, South America and other parts of the world. The first overseas Reyche are established.
Reconstruction after the war
Many Reyche are destroyed. Through great effort, the community is rebuilt in the post-war years – a testament to the lasting power of friendship.
Today: 260+ Reyche worldwide
Schlaraffia spans 5 continents with over 260 active Reyche. The tradition lives on – passed from generation to generation, always with humour, art and genuine friendship.
